When a 217-LEASE object is associated with a 217-LAND-NET-LIST object, each of the 217-LAND-NET objects is constrained to describe a single polygon of land included or excluded from the lease. The 217-LEASE-POLYGON object describes the lease ownership/rights/interests to such a polygon for a single extent, described in terms of depth, or in terms of a named formation. Hence there can be multiple 217-LEASE-POLYGON objects for each 217-LAND-NET object. When the same lease details pertain to multiple polygons, then all of the associated 217-LAND-NET objects may point to the same 217-LEASE-POLYGON. Accordingly, there is a many-to-many relation between the land polygons described in 217-LAND-NET , and the lease details described in 217-LEASE-POLYGON.

EXCLUDE C=1, R=STATUS
A STATUS field to show if this polygon is an excluded polygon from the lease. This attribute should be TRUE if the polygon is excluded, and FALSE if the polygon is included in the lease.
POLYGON-AREA C=1, R=FSINGL U
The legal or calculated area of the polygon. An example could be amount of acres this polygon covers.
AREA-CALCULATED C=1, R=STATUS
An indicator used to specify if the AREA of the polygon was calculated.
INTEREST-TYPE R=USHORT
Type of lease interest associated to the polygon. INTEREST-TYPE, INTEREST-PERCENT and LESSEE should be considered a triplet. The Nth LESSEE holds interest given by the Nth INTEREST-PERCENT whose type is specified by the Nth INTEREST-TYPE. The allowable values are taken from the following Codes:
| Interest Type | ||
|---|---|---|
| Code | Mnemonic | Definition |
| 1 | LEASEHOLD | mineral Lease (working interest) |
| 2 | forced pooled interest | |
| 3 | FEE LAND | mineral deed |

| 6 | fee land (subject to lease) | |
| 7 | ROYALTY | royalty (perpetual) |
| 8 | royalty (term) | |
| 9 | overriding royalty interest | |
INTEREST-PERCENT R=FSINGL
Total interest for the Nth LESSEE owned in the polygon. INTEREST-TYPE, INTEREST-PERCENT and LESSEE should be considered a triplet. The Nth LESSEE holds interest given by the Nth INTEREST-PERCENT whose type is specified by the Nth INTEREST-TYPE. Can also be used to show net interest in the polygon.
HELDBY-STATUS C=1, R=USHORT
Describes how the lease remains active. These are taken from the table:

| Code | Mnemonic |
| 1 | HELD BY PRODUCTION |

FORM-CODE R=ASCII FORM-AGE-CODE R=ASCII
Coded name and age of the formation that is covered by the lease. See the object 217-LITHOSTRATIGRAPHIC for sets of suggested values. This usage will probably be replaced by use of the GEOLOGIC-FEATURE-NAME and GEOLOGIC-FEATURE-SOURCE attributes.
TOP-DEPTH C=1, R=FSINGL U BOTTOM-DEPTH C=1, R=FSINGL U
Upper and/or lower depth restricting the lease.
ASSIGNEE R=ASCII
Assignee name.
ASSIGNOR R=ASCII
Assignor name.
CONTRACT-NUMBER R=ASCII
Contract number associated with lease polygon.
LESSOR-ROYALTY C=1, R=FSINGL
A burden on the lease polygon. Commonly used to show percent of production paid to the lessor.
TOP-SURFACE-SET-NAME C=1, R=ASCII BOTTOM-SURFACE-SET-NAME C=1, R=ASCII
Top or bottom surface set name constraining the polygon.
LESSEE R=ASCII
The lessee name for this polygon. INTEREST-TYPE, INTEREST-PERCENT and LESSEE should be considered a triplet. The Nth LESSEE holds interest given by the Nth INTEREST-PERCENT whose type is specified by the Nth INTEREST-TYPE.
LESSOR-PERCENT C=1, R=FSINGL
The lessor's percentage ownership in this polygon.
OPERATOR C=1, R=ASCII
The Operator of this lease at this polygon.
OPERATOR-ABBREVIATED C=1, R=ASCII
The abbreviation of the Operator.
POST-TEXT-BEGIN C=1, R=OBJREF
Location to begin text posting associated with the polygon. Reference to 217-MAP-LOCATION .
POST-TEXT-END C=1, R=OBJREF
Location to end text posting associated with the polygon. Reference to 217-MAP-LOCATION .
GEOLOGIC-FEATURE-NAME R=ASCII GEOLOGIC-FEATURE-SOURCE R=ASCII
Name and source of a set of geologic features that are the specific subject of this lease in the boundary associated with this lease polygon. The I-th source corresponds to the I-th named feature. The named features may or may not be represented in the dataset as 217-GEOLOGIC-FEATURE objects.
